BEST OF BREED : THORN ANDREWS Ch
Drakesleat Scent Sybil Open Bitch
(6 Entries) It was a privilege to Judge at the Midland Dachshund club championship show but it was a shame the sun shone too hot for many of the dogs who were showing signs of the heat by the afternoon when the club show began. I wish to thank my steward for his efficient work and without saying the show secretary had once again got everything in its rightful places with her excellent team, also thank you to the show manager who was very polite, helpful and efficient in his tasks.
MPD (1-0)
Brindle with typical wire head and almond eye, oval and full thorax, nice shoulder and fore angles, excellent feet, bone and coat texture, moved ok. RDCC, BPD, BPIB. PD (1-1) JD (3-1) Both exhibits were difficult to access due to hopping and skipping around the ring, I assume it was the length of the grass.
Excellent hound head, and front assembly was good, good bend of stifle, moved ok.
Good head and eye, in excellent coat, with good feet, on the move he displayed a slight roach to his topline. PGD (6-4)
Very nice head, and depth to chest, shoulders good, superb length of ribbing, good follow through on underline, topline good when stacked but lost shape on the move. Moved ok.
Brindle, of nice type another exhibit objecting to the grass which lost him the class in good coat. LD (1-0)
Good head and eye, excellent feet, bone, nice sternum, underline and topline, good shoulders and sternum, coat was a little soft today and he was not moving soundly in the rear. OD (3-0)
Excellent wire haired head, good shoulders and best length to upper arm, oval and full thorax, well ribbed up, this boy was the best overall mover in the males today with a harsh dense coat and furnishings, DCC.
Taller than my winner, excellent ribbing and keel, lovely topline and underline in super coat, lovely head and expression.
Bitches MPB (3-1)
This girl made a good job of moving over the grass, strong in her movement too very nice puppy, in excellent coat. BPB
This baby is hopefully to have a bright future, she is quite feminine and stunning reach and drive especially in profile when she moves, will trouble a few in her future. PB (3-2)
Repeat of MPB JB (7-2)
Nice type, good head and eye, deep forechest, good length of rib and bend of stifle, moved ok.
Same remarks as winner, she looked beautiful stacked but fell apart on rear movement today.
PGB (12-2)
Good head and eye, super forechest, excellent keel and ribbing, good profile moving, well angulated rear.
My notes say same remarks as my winner just a little hot and stressed on the day. I am sure these two winners will be swopping places a few times in the future. It was the most difficult decision of the day.
LB (9-2)
Lower to ground than previous kennel mate, a true silhouette when stacked, moved out well covering the ground with ease, oval thorax, well ribbed up, broad and strong pliant muscles on a full rump, RBCC.
Very nice bitch of outstanding quality, same remarks as above apply here, just lost out by being a little unsettled with her handler today.
OB (6-2)
This bitch won her 40th CC with BOB today, what can I say that has not already been written about her, Sybil’s silhouette is text book and your hands just flow over her construction as if your reading the standard, in her best dress too, this coat was harsh and dense and was presented with skill to exhibit her attributes, on the move today she took the ground with ease. BCC, BOB.
Another top drawer bitch, unfortunate to meet the winner today, excellent confirmation throughout, just a little soft in coat on the day.
